What is pledging?

Bahut saare clients ke paas stocks, ETFs, Mutual Fund holding to bahut hoti hai but trade karne ke liye cash nahi hota hai.
Iss case main client apne holdings ko pledge kar ke collateral margin le sakte hain broker se jo apko haircut deduct kar ke provide kar diya jata hai.
Pledging se receive hue margin se client equity intraday, f&o and option selling bhi kar sakte hain
