NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT
Nifty 50 traded under sustained selling pressure, amid weak global cues, geopolitical anxieties, and elevated commodity prices weighed heavily on domestic market sentiment. With Brent crude holding firmly above the $90 per barrel mark, concerns over imported inflation and potential margin compression dampened risk appetite, triggering broad-based profit-taking across rate-sensitive and high-beta sectors. Financial heavyweights, like ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and State Bank of India, faced steady distribution alongside losses in power, infrastructure, and metal counters. While pockets of strength emerged in large-cap IT and select consumer discretionary names like Trent and Zomato. Consequently, Nifty50 struggled to reclaim its critical 24,200 support zone, ending the session on a defensive footing with negative market breadth, as traders remained guarded ahead of key macroeconomic data releases and central bank commentary.
The Bank Nifty traded within a narrow, guarded range to finish virtually unchanged at 57,239.75, shedding just 0.04% amid previous close of 57,262.40. Following a muted start at 57,260.65, afternoon selling across major lenders pulled the gauge down toward a session low of 57,001.75. Strong buying near key technical support around the 57,000 mark and the 50-day moving average triggered a rebound to an intraday high of 57,356.85. With investors weighing elevated crude costs and rising sovereign yields against selective buying in private lenders, overall banking sentiment remained subdued, keeping the index locked in its broader consolidation trend.
Nifty Energy index retreated significantly, dropping 1.18% to finish at 38,124.45 against previous close of 38,578.85. After starting the trading the session unchanged at 38,583.50 and touching the high at 38,588.30, amid persistent institutional offloading in major utilities, power producers, and downstream oil firms drove the index down to the daily low of 38,023.05. Turbulent global oil markets and widespread profit booking in pillar stocks like NTPC and Reliance Industries effectively capped the upside in the index. While a mild rebound emerged around the key 38,000 threshold into the close, overall market breadth across the sector remained distinctly negative, reflecting heightened investor caution toward capital-heavy infrastructure and energy plays.
NIFTY DAILY CHART
The Nifty50 trade with negative momentum index settled at the mark of 24,078.30,below the critical level of 24,250. Thus falling below 24,250 would push the index lower towards 24,100. Nifty can only gain momentum once.
