NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT
Nifty 50 built on its rebound, advancing about 0.98% to close comfortably past the 22,700 threshold at the level of 22,776.10. The positive tone was set early on, with the index starting the session on firm footing amid buoyant global cues from Wall Street and regional Asian peers. A pullback in crude oil prices, coupled with aggressive short-covering once the key 22,400–22,550 cushion held firm, provided significant tailwinds. Financial heavyweights and consumption majors drove the charge, underpinned by upbeat quarterly business updates and standout performances in bellwethers such as Kotak Mahindra Bank and Trent, eclipsing pre-RBI policy hesitation. With broad-based participation lifting the wider market, sentiment tilted decisively in favor of buyers, leaving the index technically well-placed to challenge higher overhead resistance in the near term.
Nifty Bank marked the day with positivity, and added 414.30 points to settle the trading day at 55,128.40. Starting on a constructive note at 54,901.30 compared to its prior close of 54,714.10, the banking index saw consistent accumulation through the day, swinging between an intraday low of 54,834.75 and a peak of 55,201.00. Heavyweights across both the private and public banking space, most prominently ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, led the charge through steady institutional buying and short-covering ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s policy outcome. A decisive close back above the critical 55,000 threshold, combined with a sharp ~7.9% drop in the India VIX, underscores robust demand at lower supports and sets the index up favorably to test immediate resistance around 55,400–55,500 in near-term trade.
The Nifty IT index witnessed a muted, sideways-to-negative session, settling the session at the mark of 28,136.05, as initial gains succumbed to steady profit-taking. Even with a supportive handoff from overnight strength in US tech peers, the sector couldn’t hold elevated ground, largely eclipsed by an aggressive sectoral shift toward financial, metal, and consumption plays prior to the RBI’s policy verdict. Key tier-1 majors, such as TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and HCL Technologies, came under consistent selling pressure, pulling the basket toward session lows near 27,946 before selective value buying in midcap tech offered some downside cushion. Technically, the move reflected tight consolidation, with traders staying defensive and holding their cards close to the chest ahead of imminent Q2 earnings scorecards and fresh revenue outlooks.
NIFTY DAILY CHART
The Nifty50 for the second consecutive trading session managed to sustain above the 22,500 and settled the day at the mark of 22,776.10. RSI for the index also increased to 36.31 from the previous day’s number of 22.57 which was in the oversold zone, but the index continued to be in the oversold zone. A sustained trading above the 22,500 level could push the index to 22,800 else, the index seems to be in a prolonged weak zone. But if the index falls below 22,500 could make the index weaker towards the mark 22,300.
