NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT
The Nifty 50 faced significant downward pressure amid deteriorating international market signals and rising global crude prices, fueled by escalating conflict in the Middle East. Beginning the day with a gap down, the index plunged by 141.35 to settle the day at 23,914.45 from its earlier closing level of 24,055.80, quickly slipping beneath the critical 23,900 threshold. Weakness was visible across almost the entire market, with steep declines in IT, banking, and aviation leaders including Infosys, IndiGo, and NTPC. Anxiety over potential inflation, sparked by crude oil trading near $88 a barrel, restricted any meaningful bounce during trading hours.
The Bank Nifty index encountered selling pressure during the trading session, amid negative global sentiment, rising international bond yields, and surging crude prices amid escalating US-Iran conflicts. Breaking below its crucial 57,400 pivot point, the banking index tumbled over 1% to test important support levels near the 57,000–57,150 zone. Fall in the index was amid heavy selling in leading state-owned and private financial stocks and Financial Services sectors also tracking the wider market decline. Even though private sector peers such as HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank showed temporary resilience early on. But persistent apprehensions regarding elevated interest rates and elevated energy costs constrained market sentiment, neutralizing any attempt at a dynamic intraday rebound.
Nifty Auto index opened lower at 28,183.20 and plunged up to 3.3% during the session to a low of 27,541.65, ultimately settling down 1.79% at 27,981.95 against its previous close of 28,491.05. Despite robust August sales figures with strong year-over-year gains reported by companies like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tata Motors, Nifty Auto continued its downward rally amid Brent crude climbing above the mark of $95, which may bring in escalating input costs and elevated fuel prices. Market wide selling pressure dragged down the entire segment, with prominent two-wheeler players like Eicher Motors and Hero MotoCorp suffering the deepest hits.
NIFTY DAILY CHART
The Nifty50 extended its losing streak for the fifth consecutive trading session, and Nifty failed to gain momentum and fell below the mark of 24,000. Further RSI is also seen slipping down and is currently near 38.34, thus showing pressure on the index. Further index has fallen below the mark of 15 EMA of 24,231. Thus the index to gain momentum must sustain above the 24,100 mark for further upside towards the mark of 24,250. Else falling below 23,800 would make the index come down to 23,650.

Equity Market Technical Analysis Snapshot: Sep 02nd, 2026
NIFTY50:

Nifty opened gap-down around 23,858 and initially declined to an intraday low of 23,786.80 before witnessing a recovery and settling around 23,914.45. The overall trend remains bearish, with immediate resistance placed at 24,000 and 24,150, while support is seen at 23,770 and 23,610. The index continues to trade below its 200-DMA, 30-DMA, and 11-DMA, indicating sustained technical weakness. RSI at 38.34 reflects weak momentum and remains well below the neutral 50 level, although the recovery from lower levels indicates some buying interest. A sustained break below 23,770 could trigger further downside, while reclaiming 24,000 would provide some relief.
BANKNIFTY:

Bank Nifty opened gap-down around 57,006.45 and extended its decline to a low of 56,823.20 before recovering and settling around 57,172. The trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 57,100 and 57,400, while support is seen at 56,750 and 56,900. The index is trading below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, confirming a weak technical structure. RSI at 45.49 indicates subdued momentum. A sustained move above 57,400 could trigger short covering, while a break below 56,750 may lead to further weakness.

The index remains above its 200-DMA but is trading below both the 11-DMA and 30-DMA, indicating deterioration in its short-term technical structure.
