Under the new tax regime (introduced in the budget 2020), those earning up to ₹7 lakhs per year, will not have to pay any tax. Second, the new regime will be the default tax regime; the old one, however. has not been discontinued, and citizens can continue to use it either. Third, the number of slabs in the new regime has been reduced to five, from six.
