NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT

The Nifty 50 traded within a narrow, range-bound corridor today, erasing an initial gap-up opening around 24,277 as sustained overhead supply triggered sharp profit-taking. Amid muted global market sentiment and an absence of significant domestic triggers, the benchmark slipped into negative territory, to settle below the mark of 24,100 , around 24,090, losing 0.48%. Sectoral trends were mixed; modest gains in private banks and pharmaceuticals offered downside support, but weakness in heavyweight IT, FMCG, and automotive counters kept the index under pressure. Technically, if Nifty fails to breach 24,100, it may slip lower towards the mark of 23,800.

Bank Nifty witnessed a volatile trading session, ultimately succumbing to selling pressure to settle near its intraday low at 57,509.95, down 273.80 points. The index began the  session on a positive note, opening higher at 57,985.00 and briefly testing the 58,012.40 barrier before facing resistance and broad-based profit booking reversed the initial momentum. The banking index skewed negative with 11 of the 14 tracked banking constituents declining. Selling pressure in heavyweight HDFC Bank, along with losses across PSU and mid-sized lenders, outweighed relative resilience in Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank. Technically, the failure to sustain above the 58,000 threshold leaves the index locked in a consolidation phase, with immediate downside support seen around the 57,200–57,450 zone.

Nifty Pharma index traded with positive bias , closed higher by 0.84% with steady intraday accumulation. Pharmaceutical and healthcare counters attracted sustained defensive inflows, amid institutional buying across large-cap drugmakers and selective API manufacturers. Key heavyweights including Sun Pharma, Cipla, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories provided crucial upward momentum, effectively offsetting moderate profit-taking in mid-cap formulations. From a technical standpoint, the sector index maintained positive market breadth and held firmly above its short-term moving averages, confirming strong sector rotation into defensive assets and establishing immediate support near its recent consolidation base.

NIFTY DAILY CHART

The Nifty50 traded with negative momentum and lost 0.48% falling below the crucial level of 24,100 to settle the level at the level of 24,090.85. The index is nearing the lower band of the bollinger band at 23,997, falling below this level would make it weaker to the next downside stop at 23,800. Falling  RSI is indicating pressure in the index, which is now looming below the mark of 50. Thus, upside in the index would only be witnessed above the mark of 24,100.

Equity Market Technical Analysis Snapshot: Aug 27th, 2026

NIFTY50:

Nifty opened around 24,277.60 and initially made a high of 24,297.45 before witnessing sharp selling pressure and declining throughout the session, eventually settling lower around 24,090.85. The trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 24,250 and 24,330, while support is seen at 24,000 and 23,900. The index is trading below its 200-DMA, 30-DMA, and 11-DMA, indicating continued technical weakness. RSI at 43.47 reflects subdued momentum, and a sustained break below 24,000 could lead to further downside.

BANKNIFTY:

Bank Nifty opened gap-up around 57,985 but faced selling pressure immediately after the opening and declined throughout the session. After facing resistance near higher levels, the index moved sideways and settled around 57,509.95. The trend remains sideways, with resistance at 57,800 and 58,000, while support is placed at 57,100 and 56,900. Bank Nifty continues to trade above its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, keeping the broader technical structure relatively positive despite the day’s weakness. RSI at 50 indicates neutral momentum, making the 58,000 resistance and 57,100 support crucial for the next directional move.

NIFTY MID SELECT:

Nifty Mid Select opened around 14,990.20 and initially moved higher to 15,024.85 before losing momentum and settling lower around 14,948.05. The trend remains sideways to bullish, with immediate resistance at 15,080 and 15,250, while support is placed at 14,900 and 14,800. The index remains above its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, maintaining a positive technical structure. RSI at 56.83 indicates moderately positive momentum, and holding above 14,900 could support a recovery toward the 15,080 resistance zone.

NIFTY PHARMA:

Nifty Pharma opened around 26,677.15 and initially declined to a low of 26,607 before witnessing strong buying momentum. The index broke above the 26,800 level and settled higher around 26,856.05. The trend remains bullish, with support placed at 26,650 and 26,500, while resistance is seen at 27,000 and 27,200. The index is trading above its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, confirming a strong technical setup. RSI at 66.85 indicates strong bullish momentum and is approaching the overbought zone, so some profit booking may be seen at higher levels.
