Equity Market Technical Analysis Snapshot: Oct 21st, 2026
NIFTY50:

Nifty opened gap-up around 23,016 and initially moved higher, touching an intraday high above 23,120. However, the index failed to sustain at higher levels and witnessed sharp selling pressure, declining to an intraday low of 22,649.90, marking a fall of nearly 400–500 points from the day’s high. Nifty subsequently recovered from the lower levels and settled around 22,811.35, registering an overall decline of 0.34%. The trend remains sideways to bearish, with resistance placed at 23,000 and 23,325, while support is seen at 22,700 and 22,500. The index is trading above its 11-DMA but remains below its 30-DMA and 200-DMA, indicating mixed short-term signals within a weak broader technical structure. RSI at 46.27 reflects moderate but subdued momentum. A sustained move above 23,000 could improve the short-term outlook, while a break below 22,700 may increase selling pressure.
BANKNIFTY:

Bank Nifty remained comparatively weaker than Nifty, opening around 55,707.85 before witnessing continuous selling pressure and declining to an intraday low of 54,696.45. The index recovered marginally from the lower levels but settled around 54,976.90, registering an overall decline of 0.92%. The overall trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 55,300 and 55,900, while support is seen at 54,400 and 53,800. The index continues to trade below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, confirming a weak technical structure. RSI at 43.51 reflects subdued momentum and a lack of strong buying interest. A sustained move above 55,300 could provide some relief, while a decisive break below 54,400 may lead to further downside.
| INDICES | SUPPORT | RESISTANCE | TREND |
| NIFTY50 | 22500 | 23325 | Sideways to Bearish |
| BANK NIFTY | 53800 | 55900 | Bearish |
NIFTY MID SELECT:

Nifty Mid Select opened around 13,584.15 and initially advanced to an intraday high of 13,625.65 before witnessing persistent selling pressure throughout the session. The index declined sharply to an intraday low of 13,253.65 and subsequently recovered marginally to settle around 13,367.85, registering a significant decline of 1.45%. The overall trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 13,500 and 13,650, while support is seen at 13,250 and 13,050. The index continues to trade below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, indicating a weak broader technical structure. RSI at 31.64 reflects weak momentum and is approaching the oversold zone, so short covering cannot be ruled out. A sustained move below 13,250 could extend the decline towards 13,050, while a recovery above 13,500 would be needed to improve the short-term outlook.
NIFTY IT:

Nifty IT opened gap-up around 31,910.25 and witnessed strong buying momentum after the opening. The index initially advanced and subsequently consolidated within the 32,000–32,350 range for most of the session before breaking above this range and settling higher around 32,422.50, registering a sharp gain of 2.88%. The overall trend remains bullish, with support placed at 31,900 and 31,500, while resistance is seen at 32,950 and 33,550. The index is trading above its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, indicating a strong technical structure across short-, medium-, and long-term time frames. RSI at 72.87 is in the overbought zone, reflecting strong bullish momentum but also raising the possibility of near-term profit booking. Sustaining above 32,350 could support further upside towards 32,950, while a decline below 31,900 may trigger profit booking.
| INDICES | SUPPORT | RESISTANCE | TREND |
| NIFTY MID CAP SELECT | 13050 | 13650 | Bearish |
| NIFTY IT | 31500 | 33550 | Bullish |
