Equity Market Technical Analysis Snapshot: Oct 08th, 2026

NIFTY50:

Nifty opened around 22,599.05 and witnessed continuous selling pressure throughout the session, declining to an intraday low of 22,179.90 before recovering marginally and settling around 22,231.80, registering a sharp decline of 1.64%. The 22,200 level acted as an important pivot during the session. The overall trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 22,600 and 22,850, while support is seen at 22,000 and 21,750. The index continues to trade below its 200-DMA, 30-DMA, and 11-DMA, indicating a weak broader technical structure. RSI at 27.55 has entered the oversold zone, suggesting that short covering cannot be ruled out from lower levels. A sustained move below 22,000 could intensify the downside, while recovery above 22,600 would be required to improve the short-term outlook.

BANKNIFTY:

Bank Nifty opened around 55,042.90 and remained under selling pressure throughout the session, declining to an intraday low of 54,383.15 before recovering marginally and settling around 54,515.05, registering an overall decline of 0.98%. The overall trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 55,000 and 55,300, while support is seen at 54,200 and 53,800. The index continues to trade below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, confirming a weak technical structure. RSI at 36.45 reflects weak momentum. A sustained move above 55,000 could support a short-term recovery, while a break below 54,200 may lead to further selling pressure.

NIFTY MID SELECT:

Nifty Mid Select opened around 13,726.85 and witnessed continuous selling pressure throughout the session, declining sharply to an intraday low of 13,375.70 before settling around 13,386.75, registering a steep decline of 2.69%. The overall trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 13,550 and 13,650, while support is seen at 13,220 and 13,100. The index continues to trade below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, indicating a weak broader technical structure. RSI at 26.95 remains firmly in the oversold zone, suggesting that short covering may emerge from lower levels. A sustained move below 13,220 could extend the downside, while a recovery above 13,550 would be required to ease the immediate selling pressure.

NIFTY METAL:

Nifty Metal opened around 12,310.45 and witnessed continuous selling pressure throughout the session, declining sharply and remaining below the key 12,300 zone before settling around 12,306.70, registering a significant decline of 3.55%. The overall trend remains bearish, with support placed at 11,700 and 11,500, while resistance is seen at 12,100 and 12,350. The index continues to trade below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, confirming a strong bearish technical structure. RSI at 29.35 is in the oversold zone, indicating extreme weakness and raising the possibility of short covering from lower levels. A sustained break below 11,700 could accelerate the downside, while a recovery above 12,100 would provide some relief to the short-term trend.
