NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT
The benchmark index, Nifty 50 showed a modest recovery from the prior week’s steep correction, crossing back above the pivotal 22,500 threshold with an early gain. This initial advance above its 22,421.95 baseline was largely supported by value buying at lower levels in counters, particularly across IT majors like TCS and Infosys alongside banking bellwether HDFC Bank. However, bullish momentum struggled to build further, as stiff call-writing resistance between 22,550 and 22,600 kept a tight lid on advances. Also underlying sentiment stayed defensive amid continued FII outflows, crude oil remaining elevated past $100, and caution preceding the upcoming RBI MPC rate review, ultimately confining the index to a tight consolidation band around its morning gains.
Nifty Bank halted its preceding week’s slide to with a gain of 0.48% higher at 54,713.60 Resuming trade after the extended weekend, the banking index kicked off with a positive gap at 54,840.65 against the previous close of 54,450.75, quickly rallying to a peak of 55,192.65 behind short-covering and selective buying in heavyweights like HDFC Bank. However, the advance ran into heavy selling pressure across the 55,000–55,200 hurdle, dragging the index down to an intraday low of 54,370.60 as persistent foreign fund outflows, Brent crude holding past $100/barrel, and pre-policy caution ahead of the RBI MPC meet prompted traders to trim exposure. The Index spent the session consolidating within a narrow band to post moderate gains, showing that while bulls successfully defended the 54,400 floor, taking out 55,200 remains imperative for establishing a broader upward continuation.
Nifty Pharma traded with a negative bias, retreating around 0.82% from its previous 26,311.55 settlement. With market participants rotating capital back into battered cyclical segments like Banking and Tech, appetite for defensive healthcare plays softened. Movement in index was mixed as solid gains in formulations and mid-cap names such as Mankind Pharma, Alkem Laboratories, and Ipca Laboratories cushioned the fall in the index, yet pressure in frontline heavyweights like Sun Pharma, Divi’s Laboratories, and Cipla kept the sector muted. Despite the softness, the gauge maintained its critical cushion above 26,000, settling into range-bound trade as institutional funds stayed sidelined before the imminent Q2 FY27 earnings season and incoming monetary policy triggers.
NIFTY DAILY CHART
The Nifty50 after a week of decline, managed to gain momentum from lower levels and settled the day above the mark 22,535.45, above 22,500, a psychological support level. RSI for the index also increased to 27,36 from the previous day’s number of 22.57, but the index continued to be in the oversold zone. A sustained trading above the 22,500 level could push the index to 22,800 else, the index seems to be in a prolonged weak zone. But if the index fall below 22,500 could make the index weaker towards the mark 22,300.
