NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT
Nifty 50 began trading with a mild upward bias around 24,342 before shifting into a narrow consolidation phase and finally settling the day at the mark of 24,207. The index failed to sustain the mark of 24,250, amid weakness in rupee and continuous outflow of FII. However, strength in major private lenders and insurance counters, notably ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Axis Bank, absorbed selling pressure in metal and IT bellwethers. Meanwhile, mid- and small-cap segments displayed notable resilience. The index may reach 24,350 only if it sustains above the mark of 24,250. Else, we may see some weakness in nifty towards 24,100.
The Bank Nifty opened with an upward gap around 57,628 maintaining firm upward traction and broad-based market participation throughout the session. Continued recovery following the recent expiry cycle propelled the index to touch the intraday high of 57,996, amid cooling oil benchmarks and supportive international trends. Outperformance across premier private sector banks, led by ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, combined with solid strength in public sector lenders to keep sentiment upbeat. Despite facing minor supply pressure near the pivotal 58,000 mark in the final trading hours, the banking benchmark successfully defended its intermediate support at 57,600 to settle with a 0.47% gain near 57,784, reinforcing an overall positive market structure.
Nifty Pharma index pulled off an intraday recovery to finish in the green. The healthcare sector started on a sluggish note, dipping early from its previous close of 26,339.30 to test support near the 26,160 mark. However, sustained buying in heavyweights like Sun Pharma and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories effectively countered selling pressure seen in mid-tier formulation and active pharmaceutical ingredient stocks. Technically, by bouncing off its 20-day exponential moving average and staying comfortably above the critical 50-day moving average (25,795), Nifty Pharma reinforced its broader bullish trend and cemented its role as a reliable safe-haven sector during choppy trading environments.
NIFTY DAILY CHART
The Nifty50 traded with negative momentum and lost 0.52% falling below the crucial level of 24,250 to settle the level at the level of 24,207.75. The upside in the index can only be sustained once the index sustains above the mark of 24,250. Else index may fizzle again to the level of 24,100, if it fails to sustain 24,250 level. However, fall in RSI is indicating pressure in the index. If RSI pulls itself above 40, then we may see Nifty gaining momentum for the upside destination.

Equity Market Technical Analysis Snapshot: Aug 26th, 2026
NIFTY50:

Nifty opened around 24,341.95 and witnessed selling pressure after the opening, making a high of 24,276.90 before declining further and settling lower around 24,207.75. The trend remains sideways, with immediate resistance at 24,250 and 24,400, while support is placed at 24,100 and 24,000. The index is trading below its 200-DMA, 30-DMA, and 11-DMA, indicating a weak technical structure. RSI at 47.50 remains below the neutral 50 level, suggesting subdued momentum. A sustained move above 24,250 could improve the short-term setup, while a break below 24,000 may trigger further weakness.
BANKNIFTY:

Bank Nifty opened around 57,628.65 and initially rallied to a high of 57,996.05, near the 58,000 resistance zone, before moving sideways and settling around 57,783.75. The trend remains sideways, with resistance at 57,800 and 58,000, while support is placed at 57,100 and 56,900. The index is trading above its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, maintaining a positive underlying technical structure despite the range-bound movement. RSI at 53.98 indicates moderate momentum, and a decisive breakout above 58,000 could strengthen the bullish bias.

The trend remains sideways to bullish, with resistance at 15,080 and 15,250, while support is placed at 14,900 and 14,800. The index continues to trade above its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, keeping the broader technical structure positive. RSI at 56.79 indicates healthy but moderate momentum, with sustained holding above 15,000 likely to support another attempt toward the resistance zone.

The index is trading above its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, confirming a strong technical structure.
