NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT
Nifty 50 traded with sluggish momentum for the third straight trading session and closed down by 35.75 points to settle the day below 24,500 at 24,435.90, after hitting the day’s low at 24,265.95. The index faced bearish global sentiment amid uncertainty in the Middle East that pushed the oil prices higher to the level of $88. Also investors stayed cautious ahead of the US inflation number schedule to be released later in the evening, which would pave the path for interest rate decisions due in September. Index got support from buying seen in heavy weights like Titan Company, Grasim Industries and Hindalco, but pronounced selling pressure in the IT sector and along with weakness in healthcare selector dragged the index lower.
Nifty Bank traded on an upward trajectory, defying the Nifty’s sluggishness to close firmly in the green at 57,885.85 with a gain of 439.60 points from its previous day’s close of 57,446.25. The banking index opened the trading session lower at 57,391.80, reacting to persistent macro headwinds and a broad institutional rotation. However, the index attracted strong structural buying at lower levels, hitting an intraday low of 57,254.00 before surging to post its intraday high at the level of 57,885.85. Banking index recovery was underpinned by extensive positive breadth amid heavy momentum in public sector and key regional lenders including Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, and State Bank of India which provided cushion to the high-beta index from the global commodity pressures and defensive equity positions limiting the main indices.
The Nifty FMCG index continued to fall for the third consecutive trading session, losing 0.73% on a daily basis to settle the session at the level of 48,429.35. Sluggishness in the index was attributed to harsh macroeconomic headwinds. The FMCG sector faced intense pressure amid rising raw material and packaging expenses, which were triggered by rising crude oil prices. MCX crude oil crossed the mark of ₹8,000 whereas Brent crude held above $87 per barrel. The intraday sell-off in the index was fueled by a sharp correction in Godrej Consumer Products, which tumbled more than 11.22%, along with noticeable weakness in heavyweights like Marico and Tata Consumer Products. The burden of soaring crude-linked input costs has completely overshadowed any underlying support from rural consumption, cementing a weakness in the session for fast-moving consumer goods companies.
NIFTY DAILY CHART
The Nifty50 continued to slip lower for the third consecutive trading session and lost 0.15%to settle at 24,435.90. Nifty50 is failing to break the resistance of 24,500. Thus, Nifty may further plunge to the lower level of 24,260. However, only closing above the mark of 24,500, could trigger further upside to the level of 24,800. Else index may reach a physiological support of 24,250.

Equity Market Technical Analysis Snapshot: Aug 12th, 2026
NIFTY50:

Nifty opened around 24,472.45 and witnessed sharp selling after the opening, breaking the crucial 24,400 support and making a low of 24,265.95 near the 30-DMA. However, buying emerged from the lower levels, helping the index recover and settle around 24,435.95. The trend remains sideways, with 24,400 acting as a crucial level for the next session; sustaining above 24,400 could support a bullish reversal, while a decisive break below this level may trigger further bearishness. Immediate resistance is placed at 24,530 and 24,650, while support is seen at 24,400 and 24,250. Nifty is currently below the 200-DMA and 11-DMA but above the 30-DMA, while RSI at 54.81 indicates moderate momentum.
BANKNIFTY:

Bank Nifty opened around 57,391.80 and witnessed a steady upside momentum after the opening, making a high of 57,885.85 and settling at the same level, reflecting strong buying interest throughout the session. The trend remains bullish, with immediate resistance placed at 58,000 and 58,300, while support is seen at 57,500 and 57,100. The index is trading above its 200-DMA, 30-DMA, and 11-DMA, indicating a positive technical structure. RSI at 54.25 suggests healthy momentum with further upside possible if the index sustains above the 58,000 zone.

| NIFTY50 | 24400 | 24650 | Sideways |
| BANK NIFTY | 57100 | 58300 | Bullish |
NIFTY MID SELECT:

Nifty Mid Select opened around 15,003.35 and initially witnessed selling pressure, making a low of 14,879.50 before recovering strongly from the lower levels. The index regained momentum and made a high of 15,032.65, eventually settling at the same level, indicating strong buying interest towards the close. The trend remains bullish, with immediate resistance at 15,050 and 15,200, while support is placed at 14,900 and 14,800. The index is trading above its 200-DMA, 30-DMA, and 11-DMA, maintaining a positive technical setup. RSI at 64.88 indicates strong momentum, although the index is approaching the overbought zone, so some profit booking cannot be ruled out near higher resistance levels.

Immediate resistance is placed at 8,950 and 9,100, while support is seen at 8,600 and 8,450. RSI at 63.68 reflects strong momentum, although the index is approaching the overbought zone, so some profit booking may emerge at higher levels.
