NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT

A 25 bps rate hike by RBIm raising the repo rate to 5.50%, brought the Nifty 50’s two-session rally to a halt. Following weak signals from GIFT Nifty, the index breached key support thresholds right at the opening bell and dropped to a session low of roughly 22,619 before encountering support around the 22,600 mark. While sustained domestic currency depreciation and sharp declines across consumer discretionary heavyweights like Titan dampened overall market mood, dip-buying across select banking leaders and Bharti Airtel cushioned the downturn, pulling the benchmark back toward 22,700 late in the day. Ultimately, the market settled into a range-bound phase, consolidating between the 22,600–22,620 base and the 22,780–22,850 hurdle as traders realigned their books to the tighter monetary backdrop.

Bank Nifty reacted to an unexpected 25 bps repo rate hike by the RBI to 5.50%. The index began the session with  subdued momentum at 54,968.70 and slumped to an early low of 54,636.20 before strong bargain hunting in leading private sector banks, mainly Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank, spurred a sharp rebound to a high of 55,340.70. Those intraday advances fizzled out into the close under broader market fatigue and rupee volatility, leaving the index lower by 0.13% at 55,055.55 against the previous close of 55,128.40. From a technical lens, the sector continues to trade inside an established range, maintaining a firm base around the 54,600 mark while encountering persistent overhead hurdles in the 55,350–55,500 zone.

The Nifty Auto was hit badly, amid aggressive selling after the RBI’s unexpected 25 bps rate increase stirred anxieties over rising auto loan EMIs and cooling consumer demand. Starting the session on a subdued note at 25,409.45, the sectoral index touched the day’s high of 25,470.55 before selling pressure drove prices down to a low of 25,067.15. Widespread selling across key automakers, led by Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, and Bajaj Auto, pushed the index deep in the red zone. Despite modest bargain hunting near the close, the index finished near session lows at 25,138.90, down by 1.58% on a daily basis. On the technical front, the gauge slipped below short-term moving averages to test foundational support in the 25,050–25,100 band, with the 25,450–25,500 zone now acting as stiff overhead resistance.

NIFTY DAILY CHART

The Nifty50 traded with negative bias and plunged by 0.76% but managed to sustain above the 22,500 and settled the day at the mark of 22,603.05.  RSI continued to move in the normal zone from the oversold zone to the mark of 33.13. A sustained trading above the 22,500 level could push the index to 22,800 else, the index seems to be in a prolonged weak zone. But if the index falls below 22,500 could make the index weaker towards the mark 22,300.

NIFTY50:

Nifty opened gap-down around 22,690.45 and remained highly volatile throughout the session, witnessing movement in both directions. The index initially recovered and touched an intraday high near 22,717.65 but failed to sustain above the 22,700 level, resulting in fresh selling pressure from higher levels. Nifty subsequently declined sharply and touched an intraday low below 22,546.30 before recovering marginally from the lower levels and settling around 22,603.05, registering an overall decline of 0.76%. The overall trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 22,850 and 23,050, while support is seen at 22,400 and 22,200. The index continues to trade below its 200-DMA, 30-DMA, and 11-DMA, indicating a weak broader technical structure. RSI at 31.45 reflects weak momentum and remains close to the oversold zone. A sustained move above 22,850 could improve the short-term outlook, while a break below 22,400 may trigger further weakness.

BANKNIFTY:

Strong buying emerged from the lower levels, pushing Bank Nifty higher to an intraday high near 55,340.70. However, the index failed to sustain at higher levels and witnessed fresh selling pressure before settling around 55,055.55, registering a marginal decline of 0.13%. The overall trend remains bearish, with resistance placed at 55,300 and 55,800, while support is seen at 54,600 and 54,200. The index continues to trade below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, maintaining a weak technical structure. RSI at 40.87 indicates subdued momentum. Sustaining above 55,300 could support further recovery, while a break below 54,600 may lead to renewed selling pressure.

The index continues to trade below its 11-DMA, 30-DMA, and 200-DMA, indicating a weak broader technical structure. RSI at 33.95 reflects weak momentum. A sustained move above 13,850 could improve the short-term setup, while a break below 13,700 may trigger further downside.

NIFTY METAL:

Nifty Metal opened gap-down around 12,525.05 and witnessed continuous selling pressure throughout the session, breaking below the 200-DMA and moving closer to the 12,300 level before settling around 12,306.70, registering a sharp decline of 2.33%.
