NIFTY INDEX DAILY REPORT

Massive Sell off in the market dragged the NSE Nifty 50 down by 198.50 points, or 0.88%, settling at 22,421.95 after touching a session low around 22,282. Mounting unrest in the Middle East coupled with continuous foreign fund withdrawals dampened market mood, keeping the index on the back foot all day. Key laggards included the automobile, manufacturing, and port sectors, with heavyweights like Maruti and Mahindra & Mahindra absorbing sharp hits, alongside broad-based weakness across mid- and small-cap segments. While resilient buying in heavyweight IT and private lenders like Infosys and HDFC Bank offered brief support, elevated expiry-related swings ultimately ensured the market finished the day with steep losses.

Nifty Bank maintained stability while headline indices suffered steep declines. Even against headwinds from erratic crude prices, sustained FII selling, and international geopolitical tensions, the banking index defended its pivotal 54,200 threshold effectively. Targeted buying in major private lenders, particularly HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, cushioned the sector against macroeconomic pressures, offsetting moderate profit-taking across state-run banks. As the October derivative cycle kicked off amid pronounced weakness in industrial and consumer stocks, the index avoided extended losses, carving out a firm base and clearly pacing ahead of the general market.

Nifty Auto tumbled approximately 3.46% to settle the trading  session at 25,385 after falling  to an intraday low of 25,087.65. Investor sentiment soured immediately after the announcement of September sales numbers, where elevated pre-holiday demand forecasts failed to match patchy sales patterns and cooling momentum across certain commercial vehicle and two-wheeler categories. Major index drivers suffered considerable damage, led lower by steep drops in Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki, which were further exacerbated by broader macro pressures like climbing oil prices and sustained foreign portfolio divestments. Even with pockets of stability in select counters, relentless profit-booking swept through both passenger vehicle and two-wheeler makers, driving the gauge deep into the red to close around multi-month troughs.

NIFTY DAILY CHART

The Nifty50 continued to trade with negative bias falling below the mark of 22,500, a psychological support level. RSI for the  index also plunged to the low of 22.57 from previous day’s number of 25.27, index continued to be in the oversold zone. After touching the day’s high of 22610.10, the index failed to sustain the psychological level and plunged down to settle down by 0.88%. As the index has fallen below 22,500 could make the index weaker towards the mark 22,300. Only a surge above the 22,500 level could push the index to 22,800 else, the index seems to be in a prolonged weak zone.
